WhatsApp Messenger has finally gotten the ability to send documents over chats. The feature is visible in the most recent builds available via Google Play and the App Store - Android v2.12.453 and iOS v2.12.4. The new WhatsApp has also introduced other features with the updates.
On Android, the WhatsApp v2.12.453 that's available from Google Play for some users shows a 'Document' option, most users on the latest app version available from the company site - v2.12.489 - are able to see the option, indicating a server-side update. For now, it is limited to sending pdf files but the file support is likely to expand in the future.
Users will be able to see shared Documents alongside Media and the newly-added Links tab. And also mentioning that a user cannot send a document until the receiver has also updated the app to the same or newer Android app version. However, we tried sending a document from iOS v2.12.14 to Android v2.12.489 over WhatsApp and it worked fine.
The new WhatsApp v2.12.453 for Android additionally brings over 100 new emojis, Google Drive Backup for chats and media, also it supports 5 new languages, and is now is compatible with Android 6.0 Marshmallow permissions.
Well there are other ways of sending files through the WhatsApp for iOS v2.12.4 this lets users share photos or videos from other apps such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or even the Microsoft OneDrive. All you need to do is to open "Photo/Video Library" and tap "Choose from another app..." to share files. In addition, users can pick from a set of solid colors for chat background. For the iOS users you have an improved viewing of picture and videos which includes zoom in on videos while they are playing.
STEPS TO SEND AND RECEIVE A FILE

1. Make sure the person who you are sending the document to also has the latest version.
2.If you are trying to share the document to a group, currently, all members of that group need to have the latest version.
3. In your chat with the person, click on the clip (money clip) that is in the top right-hand corner of the app.
4.Select ‘Document’. The app will then show you all the PDF documents that you are able to share.
5.Attach the document that you want to send. File limit of 16MB still applies.
6.To receive a PDF document there is nothing that you need to do, save for having the latest version and an internet connection with data to download the file
