See Why You Should Never Change Your IPhones Date To 1/1/1970

Changing Your or Any Iphone (Even Iphone 7) date to 1st January 1970 (1/1/1970), Will destroy the phone.

??? Is this a joke? Am afraid it's not...

A recent bug found on all Ios Iphone smartphones, that can render them useless is 1/1/1970
Manually changing the date of your iPhone or iPad to 1 January 1970, or tricking people into doing it, will cause it to get permanently stuck while trying to reboot back up if it’s switched off.

This bug affects iPhones, iPads and iPod touches with 64-bit processors running iOS 8 or iOS 9, including the iPhone 5S or newer {Iphone7}, the iPad Air, iPad mini 2 or the 2015 sixth generation iPod touch or newer.

Jailbroken iPhone users can protect and prevent their devices by using several tweaks that will prevent the date from being set to 1970. And can also be protected by not turning their iPhones off, manually setting the time and date and turning off automatic time changes.

Apple released a statement on this.
“Manually changing the date to May 1970 or earlier can prevent your iOS device from turning on after a restart. An upcoming software update will prevent this issue from affecting iOS devices. If you have this issue, contact Apple Support.”
