Besides getting hungry , skipping a meal or two can have some pretty strong effects on your body. You don't get to feel anything until six hours in, when that hunger begins to hit. Once this happens , your body enters ketosis, where it breaks down fat for energy. As a result, your brain finds fuel wherever it can, but its never able to get enough to function at 100%.

After 72 hours of not eating, your mood and energy will be dangerously low, and your brain will breakdown your body protein for glucose. Here are somethings that happens to your body when you skip meals and why you should never skip  meal.

You could run of nutrients

While skipping a meal here and there sometimes referred to as "intermittent fasting" can be beneficial, harnessing its benefits requires careful planning . Otherwise, you risk nutrient deficiency linked to fatigue, poor mental functioning, and other health concerns.

You are more pone to some diseases

If you routinely skip breakfast, you may be headed for trouble. According to a study by Leah Cahill, PhD,of the Harvard School of Public Health, she found out that women who skipped breakfast regularly had a 20% increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Another of Cahill's study linked heart disease to men who went out every morning without eating. "Our bodies need to be fed food regularly in order to maintain healthy levels of blood lipids such as cholesterol, hormones such as insulin, and normal blood pressure," Cahill says. "As we sleep at night we are fasting, and so if we regularly do not 'break fast' in the morning,you puts strains to your body which over time can lead to insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and blood pressure problems". 

You might get sick

After exercise-especially long, intense sessions-there is a spike in cortisol in your body which temporarily surpresses your immune system. The longer you put off refueling, the greater your risk pf headaches, fatigue, extreme hunger, and even infection. On the contrary, eating a meal or snack with protein and carbohydrate within 2 hours of exercise replenishes your body's energy stores and provides the raw materials to build new muscles.

Increased risk of inflammation

From arthritis to cancer to heart disease, many major health conditions stems from damage caused by chronic inflammation. Periods of fasting appear to trigger damage-repairing adaptations in your cells. Some inflammation-lowering health perks could accrue after forgoing just one meal.
