Hair loss may be as a result of environmental factors, aging, stress, excessive smoking, hormonal imbalance, genetic factors, scalp infections, unhealthy diet, and even medical conditions.
While contending with bald spots and thinning tresses is stressful, there is hope... Here are some hair foods you can include to your hair diet to thicken hair back up. 1. Spinach
According to a study, it was found that women with hair loss had lower iron and vitamin D2 levels than age-matched control. Spinach is a sure bet because it is rich in iron and high in vitamin C, which helps in iron absorption. Including spinach to your diet will grant you the best shot at slowing down hair loss. 2. Onion juice
Onion juice helps treat hair loss as it is high in sulfur, which helps improve blood circulation to the hair follicles, thus , regenerating hair follicles and reducing inflammation.
Onion juice can also help kill germs and parasites due to its antibacterial properties, which in turn can help treat scalp infections that can cause hair loss.
To use Onion juice:
. Extract the juice of one onion by grating it and then strain it. Apply directly onto the scalp and leave
for about 30 minutes, then wash off after which, shampoo your hair.
. Alternatively, mix three tablespoons of onion juice and two tablespoons of aloe vera gel with one
tablespoon of olive oil(optional). Apply the mixture onto your scalp and leave for at least 30 minutes
then, rinse off the mixture from your hair and then shampoo your hair.
3. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera contain some alkaline properties which helps bring the scalp and hair's pH to a more desirable level, which in turn promotes hair growth.
Regular use of aloe vera can also relieve itching scalp, reduce scalp redness and inflammation, add strength and luster to hair, and eliminate dandruff.
Using aloe vera:
. Apply aloe vera gel onto scalp and leave it on for a few hours.
. Wash it off with lukewarm water.
. Repeat this process three to four times a week.
Avocado can be used to get thicker hair as it moisturizes the hair. Avocado is rich in vitamin E which contributes to the overall health of the hair shaft.
Making use of avocadoes, make a mixture of one mashed avocado, one mashed banana, and one tablespoon of olive oil. Massage the mixture onto your scalp and leave for 30 minutes to allow enough time for the nutrients to be absorbed by your scalp. After 30 minutes, rinse it off and then shampoo your hair. Repeat this process only once in a week.
5. Olive Oil
Olive oil is rich in nutrients that would help thicken your hair, soften and strengthen your tresses.
. Massage your hair and scalp with warm olive oil and leave for 30 to 45 minutes then rinse off thoroughly
and wash your hair with a mild shampoo. You can also decide to leave the oil on your hair overnight and
shampoo your hair in the morning.
. Alternatively, make a mixture of olive oil and some honey, apply the mixture on your hair and leave for 30
minutes and then wash off the mixture from your hair. Repeat this remedies only once or twice a week.
