While you cannot completely stop ageing, you can slow down the process of ageing. Every woman wants smooth, radiant skin. What you eat can bring you closer to achieving that goal. While there is no magic food that whisks away wrinkles, there are some basic foods you can include in your diet to slow down this process thus, keeping your skin supple, young and glowing.

1. Oranges

Besides quenching your thirst or keeping you hydrated, oranges help keep your skin youthful. One large orange has been confirmed to be an excellent source of vitamin C, which helps make collagen, in turn, helps keep your skin supple, elastic and young looking. Generally, vegetables and fruits are great for your skin, why not consider including them more.

2. Cooked Tomatoes

Cooked tomatoes are loaded with lycopene, an antioxidant that protects you from skin damage. Though, raw tomatoes still provides your body with lycopene, cooking it makes it easier for your body to absorb lycopene found in tomatoes. Foods high in lycopene, like tomatoes, can help protect you against prostrate cancer and may help prevent lung cancer too.

3. Olive Oil

According to a 2013 study, a significant drop in "bad" cholesterol(LDL) and an increase in "good" cholesterol(HDL) was noticed amongst those fed with extra virgin olive oil. Olives are an incredible source of polyphenols and other phytonutrients that helps protect your DNA and keep you looking and feeling "younger".

4. Avocados

These are filled with a healthy type of fat, monounsaturated fat. Monounsaturated fat helps your skin stay hydrated, also helps you absorb some vitamins and nutrients needed by your skin.

5. Almonds

One handful of almonds contains 34% of the recommended daily value of vitamin E, which is an antioxidant that plays a role in anti-inflammatory processes and helps build up the immune system. Antioxidants protect cells from the damaging effects of free radicals in the body, thus, reducing the risk of some chronic diseases like Alzheimer's disease.

6. Pineapples

Pineapple is rich in minerals called manganese, which is needed to activate an enzyme called prolidase which provides the amino acid proline for the formation of collagen in skin, which plays a major role in skin strength and elasticity.

7. Grapes

Resveratrol, found in the skin of grapes, counter skin inflammation. Grapes can play a major role in slowing down the ageing process and may also fight the effects of UV light and sun damage.

8. Oat

Oats have a natural plant chemical that helps prevent damage to the skin cells and soothes skin irritation. Oats contain high amount of complex carbohydrates that boost your body's feel-good hormone serotonin without spiking your blood sugar. High-glycemic foods like refined breads, rice and pasta can increase your blood sugar as well, they play a major role in causing acne and wrinkles.
