Many people are of the opinion that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, truly it is. But, it is also very easy to miss this meal, sometimes we rush out to our various offices and schools without taking breakfast, carelessly picking what to eat as the first meal could cause more harm.
It is advisable not to skip breakfast, but its is important that your breakfast not contain the following. 1. Fruit juice
You might be wondering why you shouldn't take fruit juice for breakfast, the reason is mostly because of its sugar content. Even if it is freshly pressed, the natural sugar content is enormous. You need more energy in the morning and not a "sugar crash" caused by failing blood sugar. If at all you want orange juice, don't squeeze more than one orange. Preferably, a glass of water would do more good or eating the orange, fiber and all. You want to stay healthy? cut down on sugar altogether. 2. Cereals
Cereals that are colorful and sugary are definitely not good for you if you want to have a healthy breakfast. This cereals contain food dyes that promotes hyperactivity in children. Even if you not a child, don't go for these bright, attractive foods. Also most of these colorful cereals are genetically modified, most grains contain gluten that can be addictive and might lead to hunger cravings. Cereals contain added sugar- some are even sugar coated to appeal to children taste. Stick to cereals that use whole grains with no artificial effects.3. Processed meats
Most processed meats, including sausage, contain nitrates- Which according to The American Institute for Cancer Research is a chemical positively linked to colorectal cancer. While it might seem like a good, quick , easy option that doesn't contain sugar, always check the labels to make sure nitrates haven't been used. If they do contain nitrates, avoid eating for breakfast if not, then eat them for breakfast. 4. Ice cream
Ice creams and chocolates are foods that needs to be entirely avoided in the morning- unless of course the ice cream is made from unsweetened yogurt and the chocolate is dark and bitter. Generally, ice creams and chocolates are packed with sugar which makes it unhealthy for breakfast. 5. Pastries and doughnuts
A few doughnuts will give you at least 250 calories and 20 grams of sugar. Less concern with the calorie content but the latter is a bigger problem because sugars can cause a negative reaction of your body towards insulin.
