FACEBOOK INTRODUCES SECRET MESSAGES WITH SELF DISTRUCTION
Recently, Facebook is working to improve the automated system that determines what gets relegated to filtered messages. It is also testing end-to-end encryption on its Messenger app with "secret" conversations that users can set to self-destruct. It combines the encryption options currently available on Facebook's WhatsApp service uses. Facebook also stated that the new option will "better support conversation about sensitive topics".
This means even Facebook will be unable to see the messages and users will also be able to set a timer to "control the length of time each message remains visible within the conversation".
Secret conversations are currently being tested on a "limited basis", but will be more widely available later on this summer. You might have heard that there is a somewhat unknown Facebook inbox where potentially scads of filtered messages go to die. It turns out, there are actually two.
