The Chrysler Pacificas were reportedly spotted in Mountain View California recently. The Pacifica 2017 is Chrysler's new plug-in hybrid minivan, chosen as one of the premier car models by Google to develop in its self-driving fleet in partnership with Fiat Chrysler.
Google also said that the Pacifica design makes it "easy for us to install our self-driving systems, including the computers that hold our self-driving software, and the sensors that enable our software to see what's on the road around the vehicle." The model they chose is also a rechargeable hybrid minivan with a 16 kWh battery and 30 miles of range, providing the "robust" electrical system Google needs for its tech.See Pictures Below:
Google’s announcement: This collaboration with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is the first time we’ve worked directly with an automaker to create our vehicles. FCA will design the minivans so it’s easy for us to install our self-driving systems, including the computers that hold our self-driving software, and the sensors that enable our software to see what’s on the road around the vehicle. The minivan design also gives us an opportunity to test a larger vehicle that could be easier for passengers to enter and exit, particularly with features like hands-free sliding doors.
This new investment on self driving vehicles by Uber, Google, Tesla and the like seems really innovative and awesome, come to think of it, can it work in countries like Nigeria or India, what's your say?
